This paper is conducted to study the appropriateness level of the three Arabic syllabi used by the faculty of muamalat and Islamic finance at the Islamic University College of Perlis (KUIPs) for two programs that are diploma and bachelor's degree. This study is based on the researcher's initial observations on some students in muamalat at the postgraduate level that cannot understand the Arabic text related to the area of muamalat. This study's methodology is qualitative where the data is obtained through a library study that is by referring to books, journals, and three Arabic syllabi used by the faculty. The three syllabi refer to two for the bachelor's degree program and the other for the diploma program. Then the researchers analyse the data collected using a content analysis technique. The results show that the diploma program syllabus has an element of muamalat in the Arabic syllabus offered. However, the muamalat element is only touched on in one topic of the 11 major topics in the syllabus studied. In contrast, the two Arabic syllabi offered for the bachelor's degree program do not touch on the muamalat element in the topics offered. Therefore, the study suggests the addition of muamalat elements in the Arabic syllabus for the diploma program. As for the Arabic language syllabus for the bachelor's degree program, muamalat elements must be included in both syllabi offered. This is important to produce students who are proficient in Arabic focused on the field of muamalat.
Abstrak
Kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengkaji tahap kewajaran silibus bahasa Arab yang dilaksanakan oleh Fakulti Muamalat dan Kewangan Islam Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs). Kajian ini bertitik tolak daripada pemerhatian awal pengkaji terhadap sebilangan para pelajar dalam bidang muamalat di peringkat pengajian pascasiswazah tidak mampu untuk memahami dengan baik teks arab yang berkaitan dengan bidang muamalat. Metodologi kajian ini bersifat kualitatif di mana data diperolehi melalui kajian kepustakaan iaitu dengan merujuk kepada buku, jurnal dan silibus Bahasa Arab yang digunapakai oleh pihak fakulti yang ingin dikaji. Kemudian pengkaji melakukan analisis kandungan terhadap data yang diperolehi. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat elemen muamalat dalam silibus bahasa Arab yang ditawarkan, walau bagaimanapun elemen tersebut hanya disentuh dalam satu topik daripada 11 topik besar dalam silibus yang dikaji. Oleh itu, kajian mencadangkan agar ditambah lagi elemen-elemen muamalat dalam silibus bahasa Arab di fakulti muamalat dan kewangan Islam tersebut agar ia mencapai objektif pihak fakulti dalam melahirkan pelajar yang mahir dalam bahasa Arab yang berfokus kepada bidang muamalat.
