Understanding The Strategies Used By Siti Hadijah In Translating Arabic Proverbs To Malay Language In The Novel Of Kalila And Dimna

Abstract

This research aims to find out the strategies used by the translator Siti Hadijah Mappeneding in translating Arabic Proverbs into Malay in the Novel of Kalila and Dimna. To achieve these goals, Peter Newmark's Proverbs Translation Theory is used to identify the strategies the translator used in her translations. The researchers relied on two approaches: the qualitative approach and the library research. The research began by collecting 11 Arabic Proverbs from the translated Kalila and Dimna novel, and then analysing the translation strategies that used. The study found that there are three common strategies used in translating the Arabic Proverbs into Malay from the translated Novel Kalila and Dimna: Strategy 2 replaced the image in the source language with a standard target language image, Strategy 4 is the translation of metaphor (or simile) by simile plus sense, and Strategy 1 reproduced the same image in the target language. Therefore, using these strategies in translating Arabic Proverbs into Malay helps translators identify equivalent translation that will benefit the education field.

يهدف هذا البحث إلى معرفة الاستراتيجيات المستخدمة لمترجمة سيتي خديجة في ترجمة الأمثال العربية إلى اللغة الملايوية في رواية كليلة ودمنة. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف، تستخدم سيتي خديجة استراتيجيات ترجمة الأمثال التي طرحها بيتر نيومارك لتحديد الاستراتيجيات التي استخدمتها المترجمة. اعتمد الباحثان على منهجين؛ منهج تحليل المحتوى والمنهج المكتبي. بدأ البحث بجمع 11 مثلا عربية من رواية كليلة ودمنة المترجمة، ثم القيام بتحليل الاستراتيجيات المستخدمة. نتيجة إلى ذلك، هناك ثلاث استراتيجيات شائعة تُستخدم في ترجمة الأمثال العربية المتوفرة من رواية كليلة ودمنة المترجمة؛ أولا: الاستراتيجية 2 أي استبدال الصورة البيانية في اللغة المصدر بصورة بيانية أخرى في اللغة الهدف، ثانيا: الاستراتيجية 4 أي تحويل الصورة البيانية إلى مضمونها، ثالثا: الاستراتيجية 1 أي الإتيان بالصورة البيانية نفسها لفظاً ومعنى. لذلك، باستخدام هذه الاستراتيجيات، يمكن للمترجمين تحقيق ترجمة متكافئة للأمثال العربية إلى اللغة الملايوية، ويمكن أيضًا استخدامها في مجال التدريس.
