The fiqh of women encompasses various aspects of women's lives, including worship, personal regulations, menstruation, istihadah, marriage, divorce, and postnatal bleeding (nifas), and understanding these issues is crucial for ensuring that Muslim women practice their religion correctly and fulfill their daily obligations. However, in reality, many women, whether students or Islamic teachers, face confusion and misunderstandings regarding these matters. Therefore, this study aims to identify students' understanding of menstruation and istihadah, their characteristics, and the prohibitions related to them. This qualitative study used an online questionnaire as the research instrument. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed to female students of Kolej Universiti Terengganu Advanced Technical Institute (TATI). Of these, 81 questionnaires were returned, but 12 were rejected due to incomplete responses. A total of 63 responses were successfully analyzed. The findings of this study indicate that, in general, the female students understand the concepts, characteristics, and prohibitions related to menstruation and istihadah well. However, there are also specific issues regarding istihadah that cause confusion among them, such as uncertainty about whether istihadah is caused by corrupted blood or disease, and they were unaware that the blood in istihadah can last for less than 24 hours or that performing the tawaf sunat (circumambulation) is permissible for women experiencing istihadah. The implications of these findings can assist religious authorities and government bodies in planning effective educational programs for women on these issues.
Abstrak
Fiqh wanita adalah ilmu yang merangkumi aspek kehidupan wanita termasuk ibadah, peraturan peribadi, haid, istihadah, perkahwinan, perceraian, nifas dan kefahaman mengenainya penting untuk memastikan wanita Muslim menjalankan agama dengan betul dan memenuhi kewajipan harian. Namun realitinya terdapat banyak kekeliruan dan kecelaruan yang dihadapi orang golongan wanita samada pelajar mahupun kalangan guru Islam. Justeru, kajian ini ingin mengenalpasti kefahaman pelajar mengenai haid dan istihadah, ciri – ciri keduanya serta perkara – perkara yang dilarang. Kajian ini berbentuk kualitatif dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik melalui atas talian sebagai instrumen kajian. Sebanyak 120 borang diagihkan kepada pelajar siswi Kolej Universiti Terengganu Advanced Technical Institute (TATI). Sebanyak 81 borang telah dikembalikan namun 12 borang ditolak kerana tidak lengkap. Sebanyak 63 maklumbalas yang berjaya dianalisis. Hasil dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa secara umumnya pelajar siswi memahami konsep, ciri–ciri dan perkara yang dilarang ketika haid dan istihadah dengan baik. Walaubagaimanapun terdapat juga beberapa perkara khusus mengenai istihadah yang menjadi kecelaruan dan kekeliruan dalam kalangan mereka seperti tidak pasti istihadah adalah darah fasad atau darah penyakit dan antara ciri istihadah juga darah yang keluar kurang dari 24 jam dan mereka tidak tahu bahawa ibadah tawaf sunat bagi wanita istihadah adalah diperbolehkan. Implikasi dapatan kajian ini dapat membantu pihak berkuasa agama dan badan kerajaan merancang program pendidikan berkesan kepada wanita berkaitan isu ini.
