Abstract

Intertextuality is one of the most prominent modern critical terms that has attracted the attention of researchers since its inception and theoretical framing. The term signifies the notion that a text is essentially the product of the interaction of earlier texts, which converse, intertwine, and merge to form a new textual structure. Building on this concept, this study aims to analyze the patterns of poetic intertextuality in “Cairo Modern” by Naguib Mahfouz and to examine how it contributes to deepening meanings and supporting characters within the novel. Additionally, the study explores the aesthetic and intellectual dimensions that poetic intertextuality adds to the narrative text. The significance of this study lies in highlighting Naguib Mahfouz’s contribution to the aesthetic richness of the novel and showcasing his ability to draw from poetic texts to create his artistic material, thereby enriching the novel in both form and content. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, examining the phenomenon of intertextuality through precise descriptions and analysis of poetic intertextuality examples, while investigating their thematic and aesthetic functions and clarifying the motivations and justifications for citing them within the narrative context. The study arrives at several findings, most notably that poetic intertextuality occupies a significant place in Cairo Modern. Mahfouz demonstrated exceptional skill in handling this phenomenon in the studied novel. The study further proves that the intertextual relationships established between the novel and poetic texts are largely harmonious with the narrative context and the psychological states of the characters, contributing to the construction of a new text. This research sheds light on the role of poetic intertextuality in modern Arabic literature and serves as a reference for understanding how poetic heritage is employed to enhance literary creativity.

يُعَدُّ التناص من أبرز المصطلحات النقدية الحديثة التي جذبت اهتمام الباحثن منذ نشأته وتأطيره النظري، بحيث يشير المصطلح إلى حقيقة مفادها أن النص ما هو إلا حصيلة تفاعل نصوص سابقة، تحاورت وتداخلت ثم تفاعلت في بنية نصية جديدة. وانطلاقاً مما سبق، يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحليل أنماط التناص الشعري الواردة في رواية "القاهرة الجديدة" لنجيب محفوظ، واستقصاء كيفية إسهامه في تعميق المعاني ودعم الشخصيات داخل الرواية، بالإضافة إلى دراسة الأبعاد الجمالية والفكرية التي أضافها التناص الشعري للنص الروائي. وتتمثّل أهمية البحث في إبراز دور الأديب الكبير نجيب محفوظ في الجمال الروائي وإظهار مقدرته في الأخذ من النصوص الشعرية قصدَ إنشاء مادته الفنية، ما أدّى إلى إثراء النص الروائي شكلاً ومضموناً. وقد اتّبع البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، حيث تناول ظاهرة التناص بالوصف الدقيق وتحليل نماذج التناص مع النصوص الشعرية، مع دراسة وظيفتها الموضوعية والجمالية وتوضيح دوافع استخدامها ومبرّرات الاستشهاد بها في السياق الروائي. هذا وقد توصّل البحث إلى عدد من النتائج أهمها وأبرزها: احتل التناص الشعري مساحة ملحوظة في رواية "القاهرة الجديدة"، حيث أظهر نجيب محفوظ براعته في التعامل مع هذه الظاهرة في الرواية المدروسة. كما أثبتت الدراسة أن العلاقات التناصية التي أقامها النص الروائي مع النص الشعري، جاءت في مجملها متناغمةً مع سياق الأحداث الروائية، ومعبرةً عن نفسية الشخصيات الروائية، مما يُسهِم في بناء نص جديد أكثر عمقاً. يُسهِم هذا البحث في تسليط الضوء على دور التناص الشعري في الأدب العربي الحديث، ويُعَدُّ مرجعًا لفهم كيفية توظيف التراث الشعري في تعزيز الإبداع الأدبي.
