Al-Qanatir Peer Review Process

The submission and review process for Al-Qanatir: International Journal of Islamic Studies follows several structured steps to ensure a rigorous and unbiased peer-review procedure. The key stages are outlined below:

  1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their research articles through the journal’s submission system. Upon receipt, the Editor-in-Chief assigns the manuscript to the Managing Editor for further processing.

  2. Initial Manuscript Check and Selection
The Managing Editor and editorial team conduct a preliminary evaluation of the manuscript. Based on this review, they may either accept the manuscript for further review, reject it outright, or request technical revisions from the author before proceeding. A plagiarism report may be provided by the author, though Al-Qanatir also runs independent plagiarism checks on all submitted manuscripts.

  3. Manuscript Reviewing Process
The Managing Editor assigns the manuscript to at least three (3) subject-matter experts for peer review. Al-Qanatir employs a double-blind review process, where both the reviewers’ and authors’ identities remain confidential. Reviewers are provided with a structured review form to evaluate the manuscript according to the journal’s guidelines.

  4. Notification of Manuscript Status
Based on the reviewers' evaluations, the Editor-in-Chief notifies the author regarding the manuscript’s status: accepted, requiring revision, or rejected. This decision is communicated while maintaining the anonymity of the reviewers.

  5. Paper Revision
If revisions are requested, the author is given an opportunity to revise the manuscript in line with the reviewers' feedback. The author may also provide a response letter addressing each reviewer comment and outlining the changes made.

  6. Resubmission of Revised Manuscript
Once revisions are made, the author resubmits the revised manuscript through the same submission process for further consideration.

  7. Final Decision on Acceptance
If the Managing Editor or reviewers are satisfied with the revisions, the manuscript is accepted for publication. The author is promptly notified of this decision.

  8. Galley Proof and Publishing Process
The accepted manuscript undergoes a final proofing stage, where copyediting, formatting, and proofreading take place. Once these stages are completed, the article is published in either print or online format, according to the journal’s publication cycle.

Peer-Review Decisions:

Throughout the review process, the editorial team carefully evaluates the reviewers' feedback and reaches one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted as it is: The manuscript is accepted without any further revisions.
  • Accepted with Minor Revisions: The manuscript is accepted, but the author is required to make minor corrections within a specified period.
  • Accepted with Major Revisions: The manuscript is accepted, but significant revisions are required. Re-evaluation by the reviewers may be requested to verify the amendments.
  • Resubmit (Conditional Rejection): The manuscript may be reconsidered after major revisions, requiring another round of peer review.
  • Rejected (Outright Rejection): The manuscript is rejected, and no further revisions will be considered.

This detailed process ensures a fair and thorough assessment of all manuscripts submitted to Al-Qanatir Journal, fostering high-quality academic contributions.
