Abstract

This research sheds light on the scarcity of analyses on the theory of context and in return its impact on interpreting the Quran. This paper is divided into two parts. The first on defining “context” and the second on methods of contextual interpretations, where we cover eleven methods of contextual interpretations from old and contemporary researchers. We conclude with the following: 1- Although interpreters -both classical and contemporary- are aware of the importance of the theory of context, the way it is covered in the literature is not up to its level of importance. 2- The interference of cultural aspects on the contents of the Quran stands as a hurdle to pure interpretation of the Quran’s context. 3- Contemporary interpreters apply contextual analysis more strictly than old interpreters.

ملخص البحث

قد سلّط البحث الضوء على قلّة الدراسات المعنيّة بنظريّة السياق، وأثرها في تفسير القرآن الكريم، وبالتالي عدم وجود منهجية للتعامل معه، وقد تكوّن البحث من مبحثين، الأوّل تعريف السّياق، والثاني نماذج من التفسير السّياقي، حيث جاء بأحد عشر نموذجا من تفاسير القدامى والمعاصرين. وخلص البحث إلى النتائج التّالية: 1- على الرّغم من انتباه المفسّرين -القدامى منهم والمعاصرون- إلى أهميّة نظرية السّياق؛ إلّا أنّ الإنتاج لا يرقى إلى مستوى أهميّته. 2- تداخل المأثور والموروث الثقافي مع المحتوى القرآني، فحال ذلك دون تطبيق نظرية السّياق. 3- محاولات المفسرين المعاصرين أكثر تطبيقا لنظريّة السّياق من محاولات السابقين.
